Reception: Sunshine 2023 - 2024

The Reception class is where children start their learning journey at Stroud Valley Community School.Some will know each other from nursery, others will find it all new, exciting and maybe a little scary, but by the end of the first term, they will all have made lots of new friends and become used to the school routine. The curriculum supports your child in seven key areas of their development: - Personal, Social & Emotional Development - Communication and Language - Knowledge and Understanding of the World - Mathematics - Physical Development - Literacy - Expressive Arts In reception we learn through play and by the end of the first year children will be able to read and write a range of words using their phonic knowledge and will to be able to carry out a variety of maths activities. We have an excellent environment which allows the children to 'free flow' between both Sunshine and Rainbow Reception classrooms as well as the outdoors. Miss Nesbitt is your class teacher and Mrs Hallett is the class TA, along with Mr Hammond and Mr Pearson who support in Sunshine class.
